Galeria La Manzanilla is one of Mexico’s well hidden secrets. The gallery opened its doors in 2003 and since then has been representing a wide variety of expats and regional and nationally known Mexican artists.
La Manzanilla, a small fishing village 3 hours south of Puerto Vallarta, 1 hour north of Manzanillo and about 30 minutes from Melaque and Barra de Navidad., is surrounded by mountains adorned with graceful coconut palms towering over a profusion of tropical plants and flowers. The small town has one a fabulous crescent-shaped sand beach – one of my favorite Mexican beaches – especially at sunset!
Galeria La Manzanilla represents very talented Mexican and expat artists and artisans. Galeria La Manzanilla also features unique, handcrafted pottery, one-of-a-kind jewellery and leather goods.
The knowledgeable, friendly staff hosts four monthly ‘meet and greet the artists’ receptions each high season – a great way to meet and support the very talented working artists that choose to inspire, and share, the natural beauty they are constantly surrounded by.
When you arrive at La Manzanilla the gallery is easy to find – just take the main road into town and at Maria Asuncion turn up away from the beach at Palapa Joe’s restaurant. If you can’t find it with these directions, just ask a local!
