El Jardin B and B is a small eco-retreat with a lot of character located a short 10-minute hike from the tiny village of Yelapa. The rustic, comfortable ‘resort’ sits on a small cove on the edge of Banderas Bay surrounded by coffee, banana and coconut trees and the lush Sierra Madre mountain range. The property is alive with exotic flora and fauna.
El Jardin is pleasingly casual and rustic – the beachfront property consists of 4 rustic, open air palapa-style cabins, 2 washrooms (composting toilets and showers) and a large communal kitchen and lounging area. All buildings have a patio with dramatic views – mantas and dolphins occasionally pass by.
Eagle’s Nest sleeps 2 – Great choice for a couple. Casa Banana is a conical, ‘hostel’ style cabin – Guests have a choice of sharing or renting the entire casa. Casa Bamboo is set in a bamboo grove. Hibiscus House is a multi-purpose space that can be used as a meeting room, yoga or dance studio. If you book the entire resort, Hibiscus House can easily be transformed into a dorm room.
A daily breakfast of home-made granola and breads, yogurt and tropical fruits is served on a terrace overlooking the ocean. Meals are prepared in the well-equipped community kitchen. A highly recommended local cook can be hired for special events. Guests are responsible for recycling.
El Jardin activities include yoga, wellness, healthy cuisine, eco-tours and lots of rest and relaxation on the beach or in a gently swinging hammock. Adventure lovers will enjoy hiking to the nearby waterfalls, para-gliding off a mountain, kayaking, snorkelling, taking a whale watching excursion or boat trip to the Marietas Islands, a favourite destination for birders and photographers.
Yelapa has two luxury spas but if you prefer to stay in paradise, local masseuses Beverly and Kate, will give you a revitalizing outdoor massage on the beach under graceful palms.
The entire center can be rented for retreats, family get-togethers, business conferences, fiestas, wedding and birthday celebrations. The El Jardin staff will assist in ensuring all events run smoothly.
