CocoCabanas Beachside Inn and Bungalows are situated on the 22 km long federally protected Playa de los Cocos (Coconut Beach), Costa Alegre (the Happy Coast), Mexico. The setting is impressive – thatched roof cabanas, set on the Isla de Navidad peninsula, face across the lagoon to the tiny town of Barra de Navidad. The intimate inn, designed in a mix of luxury and rustic, is a enclave of thatched roof cabanas created from woven wood and adobe – perfect construction for a tropical climate. The Palm, Ocean, and Aztec Cabañas contain a lower living level with sofa bed, loft with king size bed (or the option of two single beds), bathroom with plentiful hot water, porch, hammock and giant windows with fantastic ocean view.

A daily breakfast of fresh tropical fruits, local coffee, freshly squeezed juice, choice of eggs or French toast, pancakes, local homemade jams or chilaquiles (a Mexican breakfast favorite). The restaurant offers a full menu specializing in seafood and traditional Mexican recipes. Rumour has it that the idyllic little village of Colimilla, just a short drive or bike ride away, has some of the best seafood on the Pacific coast!

Nature lovers will enjoy the dramatic, open ocean – the waves sometimes reach 15’ – perfect for surfing! The area is a natural habitat for endangered sea turtles (usually in the fall and winter months). Activities include bike tours, bird watching, sea kayaking, sports fishing, snorkeling and boat tours to nearby virgin beaches.

Some days there’s not much to do except have a massage,take a dip in the pool, relax in a hammock and observe the antics of pelicans and dolphins and whales in migration season. If you’re a bit more adventurous you can visit Barra for shopping and people watching. Evenings are a good time for a beach fire, romantic moonlight dip in the ocean or a fun evening at Pachangas Mar Bar under a tropical sky.
