Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – If you’re looking for a place in Vallarta to take art lessons look no further than the Centro Cultural centre – on the tiny picturesque Rio Cuale Island situated between Vallarta Old Town and the Romantic Zone. The centre offers music, sculpture, painting, dance and drama lessons at a very reasonable price. It`s a good place to meet locals and practice your Spanish.
To find the cultural centre look for the statue dedicated to John Huston (Night of the Iguana) at the north end of the island. I went there in May for the annual Festival Cultural de Mayo and the ground beneath John Huston`s feet was adorned with an enormous sculpture decorated with 100`s of burgundy and yellow roses.
This small centre is definitely a great place to begin to discover Mexico`s fascinating folklore and pre-Hispanic traditions.
