ALFREDO TAPIA is a very talented artist born, bred and still living in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero-Mèxico. Alfredo’s photo-realist skill is apparent in his depiction of figures, but he prefers to paint everyday life scenes and situations using acrylics.

Alfredo is well-known for his ‘Costumbrismo’ studies of routine customs, events and rustic locations. Alfredo paints restful, idyllic scenes from nearby coastal areas. His depictions of graceful coconut trees and boats in his favourite blues posed against the backdrop of the Zihuatanejo Bay are stunning.

Magical dreamlike figures, usually female forms, are posed against a backdrop of captivating sea and sky. This group of paintings are not so much portraits as portrayals of mood. Sometimes, the figures are outstretched, giving a sense of freedom or relinquishing themselves to the beauty and color of their surroundings. Alfredo shifts mood from isolation to peace; impending storm to calm after the storm.
