Glenna Travers and Arturo Hernandez are the founders of Papelitos (little papers). Papelito’s Spanish-teaching program permits flexibility. Glenna and Arturo teach officers and seamen, hotel and restaurant staff. Curriculum is prepared specific to the situation at hand.
Glenna created a class to teach Spanish to the English-speaking people who work behind the counters in the schools and have to deal with the Mexican parents who speak no English. A school nurse who took the class learned enough Spanish to save the life of a child whose mother had accidentally overdosed him.
Glenna also taught high school English and Spanish for 20 years and then another 23 years of ESL to Spanish-speaking adults from Mexico and Central America. During this time, Glenna also taught English classes to all levels of staff at world-class hotels: the Anaheim Marriott, Westin South Coast Plaza and Four Seasons. Papelito’s concept was developed for these classes.
Glenna and Arturo work together, combining their individual expertise. Arturo’s first language is Spanish and Glenna has 43 years of teaching experience. Classes are taught at the Naval Museum in Puerto Vallarta but it is possible to make arrangements to have a class in a private home or commercial venue.
